Grants Solicitors LLP - Who we are
Grants is a dynamic and progressive firm with a modern attitude to the provision of legal services. The firm was established by Helen Grant in 1996. On 1st April 2008 the firm became a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) at which time Helen's husband Simon Grant became a partner in the firm. It is a specialist practice focussing on Family Law, Property (residential and commercial conveyancing) and Community Care - providing a range of social welfare services to the local community. Each of our departments have their own dedicated specialist lawyers, support staff, facilities and technology.
People
Grants employ around 30 people as of April 2008 comprising 15 lawyers and paralegals and 12 specialist support and 3 administration staff. The Partners and equity owners are Helen & Simon Grant and their team is a shining example of equality, diversity and flexibility in the work place.
Culture
Grants' instructions generally arise from clients for whom Grants have acted in the past and from a number of important referrers, with whom the firm enjoys special relationships. Our record of service and reputation is therefore vital for the continued success of the firm.
Regular and accurate communications to both client and referrer, the greeting that the client receives in reception, the efficiency with which we deal with telephone calls, the quality of correspondence and the avoidance of any form of delay all form elements of the objectives which we have set for ourselves.
Premises
Grants acquired its own 8000 ft2 building on the Purley Way in September 1999. It is a Grade II listed building of two floors and was built circa 1760. Originally the tithe barn for Waddon Manor, it has seen many different uses over the years. Now it has undergone transformation into superb open plan office premises whilst preserving all of the original features such as timber beams and columns.
Grants occupy the premises exclusively and the accommodation allows considerable growth over the coming years. Located between Croydon and Sutton on the A23 London to Brighton Road, near rail and bus links, the building is easily accessible to all of South London and the South East generally.
Quality Standards
Grants is a franchised firm with a Community Legal Service Specialist Quality Mark (CLS SQM) operating within a strictly audited government scheme. Grants holds an SQM in Family Law, Personal Injury, Immigration, Welfare Benefits and Debt. The firm became a recognised Investor in People (IIP) in September 2000 and in July 2003 achieved the Law Society's Lexcel standard. In 2004 Grants became one of only eleven firms in England and Wales at that time to be accredited with the tough new LEXCEL 2004 standard whilst also holding the IIP and CLS SQM standards.
Infrastructure
The firm operates an advanced digital phone system with enormous capacity for expansion in terms of both user numbers and new technological applications. It is supported by analogue back-up lines and international digital mobile phones.
Email and internet facilities are central to the operations at Grants. The core of the firm’s applications in respect of the conveyancing department is to provide clients with on-line updates and general information as to the status of their conveyancing transactions.
Networked accounts, client database, electronic forms & precedents, central directories, CD ROM libraries and Case Control software form the main elements of the firm's intranet. Secure remote staff access is gained from laptop computers.
The firm operates internet banking via Barclays and is used for most of its domestic and international money transfers.
